It is curious to think about our habit to mythologise - I realised recently that I've now reached the age where I'm beginning to appreciate just how much time has passed since my first memories formed, and that I've already begun to mythologise the nineties, when I was a kid, as this more carefree time when people paid more attention to others and themselves, instead of staring at their phones all the time, etc. etc. Human memory being what it is, I feel like we have this innate habit of looking back on the past with rose-tinted spectacles... and the further removed we are from that past, the worse we get. I'm curious to know whether future generations will one day write about the 21st century with the same romantic nostalgia? :DSarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11394410016010195703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1713469465303122569.post-31155999437841839842020-11-29T20:54:20.865-08:002020-11-29T20:54:20.865-08:00probably "The House of the Wolfings" i ...probably "The House of the Wolfings" i haven't read it either. i just downloaded it from Gutenberg tho so i may get around to it sometime... try one of the two listed above: all readers seem to like them quite a bit...mudpuddlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16647084124715892324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1713469465303122569.post-15923822562958265072020-11-29T19:21:59.518-08:002020-11-29T19:21:59.518-08:00I have tried to read Morris but had a hard time ge...I have tried to read Morris but had a hard time getting into him. I didn't know he wrote fantasy stories. It sounds very whimsical, I'd love to read this!<br /><br />"Which brings me to modern politics and the peculiar fact that so many voters seemingly want a government that impoverishes them and makes their lives more difficult." Some fanciful stories today play a similar role.Brian Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15139559400312336791noreply@blogger.com
